Privacy
Last updated: January 5, 2025
Your files never leave your Mac.
No tracking. No analytics. No data collection. That's the entire policy.
What we don't collect
FileFlow is designed with privacy as a foundation, not an afterthought.
- Your files and their contents
- Your folder structure
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Personal information
- Device identifiers or fingerprints
Local storage
FileFlow stores all configuration and history locally on your Mac.
Everything lives in a .fileflow folder within your chosen root directory. This data never touches our servers — because we don't have any.
AI classification
AI features are optional and use your own API key (BYOK — Bring Your Own Key).
If you enable AI classification, only file metadata is sent to your provider:
- Filename and extension
- File size
- Your folder structure (for context)
File contents are never sent. Your API key is stored in macOS Keychain and communicates directly with your chosen provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or local Ollama).
iCloud
If your files are stored in iCloud Drive, Apple's standard sync applies. FileFlow doesn't add any cloud functionality — it simply works with files wherever they are on your Mac.
